Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers, Inc. Client of the Month May/June 2015

Mountain Valley Manor

Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers’ Client of the Month for May is locally owned and operated Mountain Valley Manor.  Mountain Valley Manor opened its doors in November of 2007, on Wilbur Avenue in Kingston, NY. MVM is a 53 bed NYS Dept. of Health (DOH) licensed adult care home that offers 24-hour care. They feature an expansive activities schedule including an onsite putting green, walking path, bocce court and shuffleboard. MVM is owned and operated by Taber McNaughton and Salvatore Depoala.  Both Sal and Taber are hands-on administrators who are available to answer any and all questions for residents and their families.

The idea for Mountain Valley Manor originated after Taber helped his father expand his adult care home in Oneonta, NY while he and Sal were still in college. Taber’s father needed help with the expansion application process so Taber and Sal put it together for him and submitted it to the NYS DOH. After finishing this application, Sal and Taber conducted some market research and noticed that Ulster County, and in particular, Kingston, was an area in need of assisted living and senior care.

Taber’s father had owned two assisted living homes throughout the years so Taber had grown up in the business. After college, he helped his father with the administration of The Hampshire House in Oneonta, NY while developing MVM with Sal. Sal is local to Saugerties and also grew up surrounded by a family business, Andrew DePoala Mushrooms.  Sal also spent many years working in the hospitality industry managing many local restaurants including most of the Guido's family restaurants. Taber and Sal note that the combination of their previous backgrounds, knowledge and skill sets have assisted them in developing a unique senior living experience for Ulster County.

Mountain Valley Manor recently became customers of Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers, Inc. Sal and Taber met Bob through Bob’s wife, Amy, whose aunt was one of MVM’s original residents. Sal and Taber got to know Amy over the years and eventually asked Bob to provide a quote this year for Mountain Valley Manor’s insurance.  Taber states that Bob has been very hands-on throughout this process. However, the service that particularly stands out is how Bob went through all of the quotes with us personally and still makes himself available to answer any questions we have.  We have also had a positive experience working with Linda Salerno.

Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers Client of the Month for April

Sunshine Tees

   American Made Monster Studio

Riding down Ten Broeck Avenue in midtown Kingston you’ll pass the warehouse operated by American Made Monster Studio. You might be taken back and a little frightened as you come upon a zombie world or an alien nation inside this 4000 sq. ft. warehouse space, built back in 1955. It is the ideal wide-open space for the artists who make the creations for American Made Monster Studio. Here, these artists sculpt, weld, fabricate metal, mold, design sets, create lighting and sound, and do make up design on the most amazing projects and monster creations.   A massive array of tools, props, sets, costumes and life sized figures are utilized to create projects that have been used in various videos and movies. American Made Monster Studio was actually born out of a need from a sister company called, Headless Horseman Hayrides and Haunted Houses.  Almost a year in advance the artists of American Made Monster Studio collaborate and design new creations to ensure that the eight weekends leading up to Halloween are a huge success each year at Headless Horseman Hayrides and Haunted Houses!  Amercian Made Monster Studio has made big impressions in a variety of ways, but most recently at TransWorld’s Halloween & Attraction show. The ONLY industry trade show of its kind in the world, American Made Monster Studio was named Best New Booth as ‘Transworld’s 2015 Halloween & Attractions Show 1st Time Exhibitor.”

Mike and Nancy Jubie, owners and operators of American Made Monster Studio are not novices when it comes to creating and running successful businesses. While Mike and Nancy have had great success with Headless Horseman Hayrides for 20+ years, their first business, Sunshine Tees & Embroidery has been in operation since 1971.  Mike, a retired Kingston Police detective, and Nancy, a retired RN, started SunShine Tees next to UPAC in Kingston. Later, they moved to Kingston Plaza and now they are happily settled on Dedrick St. in midtown Kingston.   Back when they were located in the Kingston Plaza, is actually when they originally came to meet and do business with Bob Ryan, Jr.  Nancy Jubie explains,  “Bob happened to be at a nearby establishment and decided to come by to say ‘Hello’ with a few fellow friends. He made a lasting impression and we have been doing business together ever since.”  Nancy adds, “24 hours a day, weekends included, if there is ever a problem with our insurance or a question that we have, Bob is there to help us out!”  She continues to say, “Jeanne & Kathleen are always extremely helpful whenever I’m not dealing directly with Bob.”

Many people have contributed to the success of these three businesses that Mike and Nancy Jubie have created and operated in the city of Kingston, NY throughout the past 40+ years.  One thing is certain; they have dedicated, talented and hardworking staffs that help in the success of all of their businesses on a daily basis.   So if you are ever in need of ‘burning your brand’ on a T-shirt, sign or banner, visit SunShine Tees' website or give them a call.  And if you’re looking for a little fright during the Halloween season, be sure to visit Headless Horseman Hayrides & Haunted Houses where all of American Made Monster Studio creations are sure to send shivers down your spine!

Ryan & Ryan Insurance Broker's Client of the Month for March

USHECO, INC.

Located in Kingston, NY, USHECO, Inc. is Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers Inc.’s, March Client of the Month.  The company was founded by Bernarr Schaeffer, CEO, in 1961 and is currently operated by his son, Wayne Schaeffer, President, and Wayne’s wife, Lorene, Vice President.  Originally a metal fabricator, USHECO, Inc. is now a leader in custom plastic processing, thermoforming, CNC routing and machining, injection molding and line bending services.  USHECO,Inc. is able to assist their customers with their initial designs, selection of materials, and fabrication processes, all within engineering specifications to produce completed products.  Their customers encompass a wide variety of industries such as medical, dental, handicap equipment, electronics, engraving, hardware, and general industrial products.  If touring their facility, one may have the opportunity to see a pedal strap being made for CommunityPlaythings, a customer USHECO, Inc. has had for more than 50 years, a new resin alternative for the modern copper rain gauge being created for Worlds Coolest Rain Gauge Co., or a mold being prepared for BaileyPottery Equipment.

USHECO, Inc. has been involved in two very unique ventures in recent years.  The first is a partnership with NASA scientist Dr. Bill Wolverton, to design the Plant Air Purifier®.  The Plant Air Purifier® is a truly clean, green solution for repairing indoor air quality.  This unique air purification system has been found to remove formaldehyde, benzene, and other volatile organic compounds from the air, as well as dust, allergens, and pet dander by pulling air down through the special growing media in the planter. Here, pollutants are captured and held by activated carbon until the microbes in
the root system can use them as food.  The Plant Air Purifier® was awarded 1st-place in the consumer products division of NASA Tech Briefs magazine’s
Create the Future” design contest in 2013.   USHECOInc.’s other endeavor involves a sauna, called Saunex.   Saunex is a personal portable sauna that is beneficial for detoxification, weight loss, pain and injury relief, skin care, stress reduction and general health maintenance.

Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers Inc. has been handling USHECOInc.’s commercial insurance for numerous years.  When asked how Wayne and Lorene Schaeffer decided to bring their business to Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers Inc., Lorene noted that “Bob Jr. had been a longtime friend of hers”.  When Wayne had the unfortunate experience of having to file a claim for damage to molds due to rain, he was finally introduced to Bob when he came out to inspect the damage.  Wayne states, “Bob walked in at that time, assessed the damage and was able to write a check on the spot.”  It was one of the most unusual and positive experiences Wayne has ever had.  USHECO,Inc. looks forward to continuing their long relationship with Ryan and Ryan Insurance Brokers Inc.

Who's Talking About Ryan & Ryan's Customer Service this Month?

Good morning Yvonne,

I can't thank you enough for going the extra mile for STAVO once again.
Yesterday I wrote you about the un-documented rate increase on both our Dental and Life Insurance thru Guardian.
Today you just phoned stating that you had them rescind the rate increase for this entire New Plan Year.   WOW!
That is wonderful news at least for this year....    I am sure they will make up the difference next renewal  2/2016.

Thank you for your continued support keeping STAVO in your best interest.
Enjoy a great weekend.

Kind regards always,
Jean Winter
